Terms of Use โ Prayer Gate
Last updated: October 15, 2026.
What changed on October 15, 2026: added notes on health and crisis support, how Screen Time can fail, using the App only on your own device, content accuracy, offers and feature changes, feedback, where and when claims are brought, and general terms.
Please read these Terms before using Prayer Gate ("the App"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
The App is provided by Morning Harbor LLC, a Texas limited liability company ("we", "us"). Until our Apple developer account moves to the company, the App Store may list an individual as the seller; these Terms still apply.
1. What the App does
Prayer Gate places a short prayer or Scripture passage before apps you choose on your device. It uses Apple's Screen Time features to show a prompt over those apps until a prayer is completed. You decide which apps are affected, how often the prompt appears, and you can turn it off at any time in the App or in iOS Settings. The App also includes a Bible reader, a daily verse, widgets, wallpapers, reminders, and ways to save and share verses.
2. Who can use the App
You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. If you are under 18, you may use it only with the permission of a parent or guardian, who agrees to these Terms for you. Where the law requires it, the App uses Apple's age and parental-consent features, and some features may be paused until a parent approves.
3. Safety comes first
- Never use the App, or respond to its prompts or notifications, while driving, operating a vehicle, riding a bicycle, operating machinery or heavy equipment, or doing anything else that requires your full attention. Pull over or stop safely first.
- Do not select apps you rely on for navigation, communication, safety, health, work, or emergencies (for example maps, phone, messaging, ride-share, medical, or alarm apps). You are solely responsible for the apps you choose.
- The App does not control emergency calling. If you need help, contact emergency services directly using your device's built-in emergency features.
- The App is a voluntary habit and reflection tool. It is not a safety device, parental control, medical treatment, or substitute for professional advice of any kind.
- The App is not a treatment for addiction, anxiety, depression, or any other health condition. If you are struggling, please talk to a doctor, counselor, or pastor you trust. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline in the United States) or your local emergency number right away.
4. Your responsibility and assumption of risk
You use the App at your own risk. You are responsible for configuring it in a way that is safe for you, for turning it off when it is not appropriate, and for complying with all laws, including traffic and distracted-driving laws. Delays in accessing an app, missed notifications, or prompts appearing at inconvenient times are expected parts of how the App works.
The App relies on Apple's Screen Time and notification systems, which we do not control. iOS updates, device settings, low battery, or other conditions may cause locks, unlocks, prompts, or reminders to arrive late, to be skipped, or to be bypassed. You can always remove the App's access in iOS Settings. We are not responsible for messages, calls, content, or anything else you miss while an app is locked or a notification is delayed.
5. Acceptable use
Use the App only on a device you own or are authorized to use. Do not use the App to restrict, monitor, or control a device used by another person without that person's permission. Do not misuse the App, interfere with how it works, or use it in a way that breaks the law.
6. Spiritual content
Prayers and Scripture passages are provided for personal reflection. They are not pastoral, medical, psychological, legal, or financial advice. The Bible translations in the App are in the public domain. Historic prayers are credited to their sources.
We work to present every text accurately and as published, but we do not guarantee that the App's content is free of errors. Historic prayers reflect the beliefs and language of their authors and traditions. Prayer Gate is independent: it is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any church, denomination, or religious organization.
7. Free features and subscriptions
- Free: reading the Bible, the daily verse, and saving verses and prayers.
- Paid: locking apps behind a prayer, reminders, widgets, wallpapers, and alternate app icons require a subscription (Prayer Gate Pro), offered monthly or yearly.
- Free trial: new subscribers may get a free trial. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it converts to a paid subscription at the price shown when you started it.
- Auto-renewal: subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Payment is charged to your Apple Account.
- Managing and refunds: manage or cancel in iOS Settings โ your name โ Subscriptions. Payment, renewal, cancellation, and refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's terms. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
- Prices: prices are shown in the App before you buy and may change; Apple will notify you before a price increase affects an existing subscription.
- Offers: promotional offers and discounts are limited-time, may be limited to one per person, and may change or end at any time. An offer's terms are shown before you accept it.
- Features may change: we may add, change, or remove features, or move features between free and paid, for future billing periods. Changes never take away what you have already paid for during your current subscription period.
8. License
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the App on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by Apple's Usage Rules. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell, or redistribute the App, except as the law allows.
Pictures you create with the App (wallpapers and share cards) are yours to use and share for personal, non-commercial purposes. The App's artwork, design, name, and original text remain ours.
If you send us ideas, suggestions, or feedback, you agree that we may use them freely, without any obligation or payment to you.
9. Privacy
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy at https://narrowgate-app.github.io/privacy.html . In short: no accounts, no ads, nothing you read or type leaves your device, and which apps you lock is never visible to us.
10. No warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT PROMPTS, LOCKS, UNLOCKS, WIDGETS, OR NOTIFICATIONS WILL OCCUR AT ANY PARTICULAR TIME OR AT ALL.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MORNING HARBOR LLC WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY PERSONAL INJURY, PROPERTY DAMAGE, VEHICLE ACCIDENT, LOST DATA, LOST PROFITS, OR MISSED COMMUNICATIONS, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR US $50, WHICHEVER IS GREATER. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Morning Harbor LLC from any claims, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the App in violation of these Terms, including use while driving or operating machinery, or use on another person's device without their permission.
13. Apple
These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content.
- Maintenance and support: we alone are responsible for maintenance and support. Apple has no obligation to provide any.
- Warranty: if the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation.
- Claims: we, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App, including product liability claims, claims that the App fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, and consumer protection or privacy claims.
- Intellectual property: if anyone claims the App infringes their intellectual property, we, not Apple, are responsible for investigating and resolving it.
- Legal compliance: you represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as "terrorist supporting," and are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Third-party terms: you must comply with any third-party terms that apply when you use the App, such as your wireless carrier's.
- Third-party beneficiary: Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
14. Changes and termination
We may update these Terms. If a change is significant, we will note it in the App or on our website before it takes effect. Continued use after an update means you accept the new Terms. You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it. We may suspend or end access to the App if you misuse it or break these Terms.
15. Disputes and governing law
If you have a concern, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it informally. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. To the extent permitted by law, any lawsuit relating to the App or these Terms must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Travis County, Texas, and you and we consent to those courts' jurisdiction. To the extent permitted by law, any claim must be brought within two years after it arises, or it is permanently barred.
16. General
- Severability: if any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
- Entire agreement: these Terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the App.
- No waiver: if we don't enforce a part of these Terms right away, we don't give up the right to enforce it later.
- Assignment: we may transfer these Terms to a company that takes over the App, for example through a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms.
- Events beyond our control: we are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events we cannot reasonably control, such as outages, natural disasters, or changes to Apple's systems.
